Human Rights

Sanjh Preet undertakes strategic interventions to improve human rights situation through engaging civil society, promoting networking, building coalitions of selected groups of society including women, religious & ethnic minorities, vulnerable people, disadvantaged children, disabled persons and work closely with government and other agencies to raise awareness and advocate for promotion of rights. The organization will build its human rights plans on international treaties, declarations and conventions for affected and depressed. Awareness raising walks, campaigns, seminars, workshops, meetings, counseling, material development and other interventions and ways would be used to improve the human rights situation. For us, human rights is larger and holistic term taking account of everything that adversely affect the lives of poor and marginalized people. Sanjh Preet Organization, to set clear strategic directions, has divided the human rights into certain sub sector of work. These include mainly:

1. Children rights and development
2. Women rights and their lasting development
3. Rights of religious and ethnic minorities
4. Rights of people with special needs and those from marginalized segments of society

Education

Right to provide Quality Education to all children without any discrimination through improving access and governance as well as advocating for enhanced education financing is among the organization’s core agenda. Sanjh Preet aims to put togetherorganized efforts to make the education a real priority of the communities in a way that people take it as fundamental right of their children and adults for sustainable development. Community led education promotes grassroots planning and giverise to bottom up planning approaches as a means to focus demand side. The approach blends together all the three including:

• Demanding rights
• Distinguishing the rights from needs
• Assuring supply in accordance with what is demanded.

The organization strives to obtain effectiveness and efficiency through steering the departmental efforts and harnessing the interests of local people. Elimination of corporal punishment, child friendly schooling, highly proactive and performing teachers, classrooms where learning could take place in an interactive and learning friendly environment with improved monitoring and support services by the district departments will come under the key focuses of the organization. Child will be the centre of each activity. Inclusive education will additionally be an area to work on. In order to achieve international commitments and contribute to the national efforts, organization will influence its annual targets with MDGs and EFA goals and focus on improving access, eradicate child labour and promote mainstream education through early childhood education & care, non-formal education, promotion of literacy and vocational/ technical education.


Emergency preparedness & Response

Natural and man-made disasters result in huge damages of human lives and infrastructure. The organization plans to build its strength in this discipline and respond in case any of such disaster occurs. The response will ensure to minimize the losses and develop the capacity of affected masses in quick recovery. The organization will gradually build its ability in quick responses, rehabilitation and development transitioning through building coalitions and networks. Provision of basic education in emergencies, health facilities, WATSAN, food and shelter as well as building capacities of the public and other sector organizations and departments in responding effectively to such calamities will be among the organization’s key programes.


Youth and active citizenship

The organization has in its plans to engage youth in development schemes and agendas of the organization and of the state for solid and appropriate actions against prevailing social nuisance and shoulder the responsibilities of the leadership for bringing about change. Youth will be kept engaged in development practices through voluntarism, building their knowledge base, youth networking and forums, sports and cultural programmes. Through involving youth, citizens will be made active for raising their voices, fighting for rights & justice, becoming agents of change and reforms using multiple ways to practice all this.
